The direct answer
A Spanish Class B theory exam normally has 30 multiple-choice questions with three answer options. The regulatory baseline is one minute per question, and DGT describes the familiar pass threshold as no more than three mistakes. DGT has described a planned video-question format, but this guide does not establish that it is active at your exam centre.

The legal scoring rule
Annex VI of the General Drivers Regulation sets a minimum of 30 and maximum of 50 questions for the common knowledge test, allows one minute per question and says errors may not exceed 10% of the questions asked. DGT’s current public description of the Class B test uses 30 questions, three answer options and the familiar maximum of three errors.
That distinction matters: the regulation defines the permitted framework, while DGT describes the operational Class B format candidates currently recognise.

A pacing plan that leaves review time
- 1
First pass: answer clear questions in about 35–40 seconds and flag genuine doubts.
- 2
Second pass: spend the saved time on qualifiers such as normally, prohibited, except and in these circumstances.
- 3
Final pass: check unanswered items and accidental answer changes; do not reopen every confident answer.
Practise accuracy without a timer first. Add the 30-minute limit only after the wording is understandable.

What video questions change
DGT says a video item will test whether candidates recognise everyday risks rather than only recall text. Its published description keeps the 30-question, three-option structure and extends the total time by the video duration. It also describes a three-view limit before the question appears.
DGT has not provided one public nationwide rollout timetable on the source page. Prepare for the format, but verify what your exam centre is currently using rather than treating a news headline as a guaranteed exam-day feature.

Frequently asked questions
How many mistakes can I make on the Spanish Class B theory test?
+
For the familiar 30-question Class B format, the maximum is three mistakes. The underlying regulation caps errors at 10% of the questions asked.
How long is the DGT Class B theory test?
+
The regulatory baseline is one minute per question, so a 30-question test normally gives 30 minutes. DGT says time is extended for the duration of an included video item.
Are there video questions in every exam now?
+
DGT has confirmed the format and planned inclusion, but its public article does not give one nationwide rollout date. Ask your autoescuela or exam centre what is active locally.
