DGT video hazard-perception questions: what is confirmed
DGT has described video-based risk questions for the theory exam. Learn the confirmed structure, three-view rule and how to practise without guessing the rollout date.

The direct answer
DGT has described a planned video-based question about an everyday traffic risk. Its published format keeps 30 questions with three options, adds the video duration to the test time and allows three viewings before the question is revealed. The source does not give one nationwide rollout date, so confirm local implementation.
- Purpose
- Recognise developing road risk
- Video views
- Three before the question
- Overall structure
- Still 30 questions / 3 options
- Rollout date
- No single date on the DGT source
01
The format DGT has described
DGT describes a question tile with a still frame and a notice that three video viewings remain. The question and answer options appear after the video is watched. Scenes can cover vulnerable users, roundabouts, intersections, merging, unsuitable speed, distraction, lane changes and overtaking.
The goal is to assess anticipation, not cinematic memory. Watch for a developing conflict, identify the user or road feature creating it and decide what a safe driver should change early.
02
A repeatable observation method
- 1
First viewing: scan far ahead, mirrors/edges and vulnerable users; name the most likely conflict.
- 2
Second viewing: check which cue makes the risk develop—speed, visibility, movement or road geometry.
- 3
Third viewing: confirm the earliest proportionate response rather than waiting for an emergency.
- 4
Read every option after viewing and choose the response that creates time and space safely.
03
Practise from the source, not leaked clips
DGT provides free risk-prediction and reaction-time exercises. Use those to build visual scanning, then use original scenarios to practise the language of the question. Avoid recalled or recorded live-exam content: it is unreliable, may be protected and teaches brittle recognition instead of hazard perception.

Frequently asked questions
Does the video replace several theory questions?
+
DGT’s published description keeps the 30-question structure and describes a video question within it, with extra time for the video duration.
How many times can I watch the exam video?
+
DGT describes three viewings before the question is shown.
Where can I practise hazard perception legally?
+
DGT publishes free reaction-time and risk-prediction exercises on its own hazard-perception pages. Use them directly and do not republish their media.
